Sarah McGinty is a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and former GP offering private CBT through her practice, Mimram Therapies. A graduate of King's College Medical School, London (1999), Sarah completed her General Practice training in 2004 and went on to earn a Diploma in CBT with Merit through postgraduate study at the University of Hertfordshire, where she now also serves as a visiting lecturer. She is an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). With over 12 years of medical experience as a GP, Sarah brings a strong clinical grounding and a longstanding interest in the psychological aspects of care to her therapy work. She has worked with clients of all ages across NHS adult and child community mental health services (CMHT and CAMHS) and within an inpatient adult mental health team. She also has extensive experience supporting young people, having worked as a therapist in several middle and secondary schools alongside her private practice. Sarah specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a practical, evidence-based talking therapy that helps clients manage their difficulties by changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. CBT is built on the understanding that thoughts, emotions and behaviours are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours can trap us in vicious cycles through no fault of our own. Rather than dwelling on the past, Sarah's approach focuses on current problems: working collaboratively to identify personal goals, build a shared understanding of the difficulties at hand, and develop new skills and coping strategies. The aim is to break the hold these difficulties have and help clients live their best lives. Warm, experienced and highly qualified, Sarah offers a supportive, goal-focused space for adults and young people seeking freedom and emotional wellbeing through CBT.
